Questions crews ask

Straight answers, no sales pitch. If something isn't built yet, we say so here instead of dodging it. For the full walkthrough of how a shift moves through the app, see how it works.

Getting started

How long does it take to get a crew set up?

About 15 minutes of admin work up front, plus roughly 2 minutes per worker at the morning huddle. We create your company and site in the admin panel, your supervisor and foremen register and get activated, and then each worker registers and their foreman turns them on. See how it works for the full chain.

Do workers need to download anything from an app store?

No. SiteLog is a PWA (progressive web app) that installs straight from a link, no App Store or Play Store required.

Does it work on iPhone?

Yes, but push notifications on iPhone only work once the app is added to the Home Screen (Share → Add to Home Screen), and the phone needs iOS 16.4 or newer. Without that step, workers won't get the "your account is live" or reminder pushes.

Who activates a new worker?

Their foreman, not us. A worker registers, picks their company and site, and lands as pending. Their foreman activates them from the app, and the worker gets a push that their account is live. The same pattern runs one level up: supervisors activate foremen, and an admin activates supervisors. See roles on site for who can activate who.

On site, day to day

Does it work without signal?

No offline mode yet. In dead zones like basements and underground parkades, clock-ins and forms can fail to save. Have workers clock in and fill their FLRA where there's signal. This is on our list, but it isn't built today.

What happens when a task is rejected by quality control?

QC can reject a completed task with comments. That automatically creates an alert the foreman and supervisor see (workers don't). The foreman or supervisor then re-assigns it: the original task is archived and a new pending task is created with QC's comments folded into its notes, so there's a clear trail back to what was rejected and why. Workers still see the archived task in their history, marked as rejected.

What languages does it support?

English only right now. If you have Spanish-speaking crew members, pair them with a bilingual foreman for the first week.

Safety records

Can I export safety records?

Yes. Supervisors can view the analytics dashboard and export PDF reports covering hours, safety, and task activity. That covers FLRAs and circle checks: timestamped, searchable, and out of the truck binder.

What's the difference between an FLRA and a circle check?

An FLRA (Field Level Risk Assessment) is the hazard assessment a worker fills in during their shift, independent of clock-out. A circle check is an equipment inspection. Both feed the crew readiness board a foreman watches each morning. Read more about Field Level Risk Assessments and the circle check.

Devices and installing

Do we need work phones, or can workers use their own?

Their own phones are fine. All SiteLog needs is a smartphone your workers already carry to work, with a browser that can install a PWA.

Data and access

Who can see what?

Access is scoped by position. Workers see their own tasks and alerts. Foremen see everyone on their crew and can create tasks and activate workers. Supervisors see the full site plus analytics and exports. Quality control only sees the task approval queue. Admins see everything. See roles on site for the full breakdown.

What does it cost?

SiteLog is free while we're in pilot. We're pre-revenue and want proof on real crews before we charge anyone.
